Security guard Steven Bouquet, 54, was today sentenced to five years and three months’ imprisonment for stabbing 16 pet cats in Brighton, nine of which died. The attacks took place between October 2018 and June 2019, and happened at night.
Bouquet was caught after being captured on CCTV set up by a dead cat’s owner, capturing him fatally stabbing a cat at the house next door. An image of a dead cat was found on Bouquet’s phone, and a knife at his property was found to have feline blood on it.
Detective Inspector Chris Thompson said Bouquet had “repeatedly” accessed a lost cats’ website and that he had viewed “numerous” videos of dogs killing cats online.
Bouquet was sentenced at Hove Crown Court. He was convicted of sixteen counts of criminal damage (for the attacks on the cats) and one of possession of a knife in June. He was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment for criminal damage and three months’ imprisonment for possession of a knife, to be served concurrently.
